Kittens continued
Many of you have asked about the kittens. The story can be found in the last entry I wrote. To continue the tale however … Here is an update:
As I explained before I discovered 5 kittens and their mother beneath my bedroom window last week. They were in a ditch alongside my house. The mother was very protective and angry at me (understandably.)
I brought out the kittens to my backyard so I could play with them and fed the mother. The mother hissed but could see I meant no harm to her babies. Through various research I learned the kittens are about 4-5 weeks of age … 5-6 as of this week. I brought the kittens inside my house. Tried to lure the mother in and gain her trust but she wasn’t having it.
Anyway long story short. Mom is getting more and more comfortable with me but still pretty fierce. I leave the kittens outside with their mother alongside the house so she can milk them.
I play with them and bring them inside every day but figure it is best to leave them outside with their mother most the time as she is proving to be a really wonderful mom. I luckily get to hear and see them all day from my bedroom window to make sure they’re safe.
I have put a cat bed for them to use and feed the mother all day.
In about a week I will bring the kittens inside as that is when the mother will begin weaning them anyways.
